Where to look on the coin
Two things decide the value: the date and the small letter next to it — the mint mark. A coin with no letter was struck in Philadelphia, which is normal and not a sign of rarity. D means Denver, S means San Francisco.
The letter is small, and it sits in a different place on each denomination — under the date on a cent, beside the portrait on a quarter. Each year page shows exactly where to look for that coin.
The app recognises a coin from a photo — point the camera and get the answer in a second. It also keeps track of what you have found.
